TableView

Description

(version 1.3)

TableView is a Java application for data exploration and visualization. It has been developed as a portable, general purpose tool for providing multiple views of a table of data. At present these views for multiple dimensional data include a parallel coordinate view, 3d scatterplots that can easily be rotated and scaled, histograms of the column values, and 2d projections.

For ease of exploration, TableView provides a convenient means to select rows of interest from the table and maintains a set of selected rows from the table of data. The selected set is highlighted in each view of the data, and it may be adjusted by interaction in each view. For example, the user can use the mouse to select data of interest directly from the parallel coordinates representation and this selection is reflected in the other view windows.

TableView can read the table of data from a file or the table may be queried from a data base using JDBC. TableView can write the selected set of rows from the table to a file for further analysis by other tools. It has been used in the visual analysis of large data sets resulting from gene expression experiments and in experimental visualization of distance-geometry views of a collection of sequences.
